Trapping of American mink (Neovison vison) in a stretch of the Alberche river (Toledo): preliminary experience of control of the species in Toledo.

Goal: Trapping of American mink on a 30 km long stretch of the Alberche River around the Cazalegas reservoir. Demonstrative experience for Environmental Agents, practical training in capture methodology. Elaboration of an action protocol for the Environmental Agents.

Determination of the status of American mink (Neovison vison) in the rivers Guadarrama, Alberche and Tiétar (province of Toledo).

Goal: Survey of the sections of the three rivers mentioned in the province of Toledo in order to determine the status of the American mink in them. Proposal for the eradication of the species in the province of Toledo.

CControl of the American mink (Neovison vison) population in the Tajuña river basin (Guadalajara).

Goal: Eradication of the American mink population in a river of high ecological quality, within the framework of the actions that the Regional Government of Castilla-La Mancha, the Tagus Hydrographic Confederation and the Biodiversidad Foundation have been carrying out in recent years in the Tagus river basin in Castilla-La Mancha.

Promoter:

2017-2016

Control and eradication of American mink (Neovison vison) in the Autonomous Communities of Castilla-La Mancha and Aragon. Tool to contribute to the conservation of biodiversity: the cases of Iberian desman (Galemys pyrenaicus) and European mink (Mustela lutreola).

Goal:Contribution to the conservation of the European mink and the Iberian Desman, improving the quality of their habitat, by acting on one of their greatest threats, the presence of the American mink, an invasive exotic species, which is seriously endangering the survival of both species and, in the opinion of the experts, is the cause of their disappearance in a large part of their recent range.
